Thank you for making this Christmas a Berry Merry Christmas!

Thank you so much for your support of Berry Merry this year.  Thanks to your generosity 1,521 children in Berry Street's care woke up to gifts this Christmas morning - children who otherwise would have received nothing.

 

2011 was the most successful Berry Merry yet.  A total of 165 organisations, community groups, schools and individuals participated.  A total of over 9,000 gifts were donated and we reached our target of raising $45,000 as well, a fantastic effort!

 

These gifts were distributed to 1,521 children throughout regional, rural and metropolitan Victoria.

5 year old Jonty has had a traumatic childhood.

Jonty's father and his drug addicted mother both had violent upbringings and the only way they knew how to deal with their frustrations was through violence. Unfortunately Jonty was regularly the subject of these violent outbursts.

When we met Jonty last September, he had never celebrated Christmas - never received a Christmas gift, never visited Santa at a shopping centre. To this young boy, Christmas was simply another day when dad would hit him and mum would ignore him.

Thankfully, Berry Street was able to place Jonty in a safe, loving foster home.
Last year Jonty celebrated his first real Christmas. He woke up in a warm house with a Christmas tree, he enjoyed his first Christmas lunch and thanks to Berry Street's Berry Merry Christmas appeal he received his first ever Christmas gifts - a Ben Ten backpack, a football and a t-shirt. This year he is hoping for a scooter.

This year we have over 1,500 children in our care, who just like Jonty, will not receive any gifts without your support. Help us make their Christmas a Berry Merry Christmas.
