Berry Merry Christmas Appeal 2011

Donate today and help make this Christmas a Berry Merry Christmas for the children in Berry Street's care.

You can make a difference in a child's life this Christmas by making a donation to the Berry Merry Christmas Appeal 2011.

Last year businesses, schools, community groups and individuals right across Victoria, provided over 7,000 Christmas gifts and raised close to $40,000. These gifts went to over 1,400 children in Berry Street's care.

Unfortunately the number of children in Berry Street's care continues to grow.

This year they need to raise $45,000 and collect 9,000 gifts.

Together we can reach this target!

Berry Street provide care for disadvantaged children around Victoria by placing them in Foster Care, residential units and providing them access to a wide range of programs to help them in their road to recovery.  These children and young people have suffered abuse, neglect and poverty right in our very own neighbourhoods. 

Berry Street's greatest challenges today are:

• - To help children and young people recover from the devastating impact of family violence, abuse and neglect
• - To help women keep themselves and their children safe from family violence
• - To help struggling mothers and fathers to be the parents they want to be
• - To contribute to, and advocate for, a fairer and more inclusive community

Charity begins at home, so this holiday season, help these Victorian children have a Berry Merry Christmas. 

With your fundraising dollars, Berry Street will be able to provide gifts to each of the children in our care.  These funds will also be used to ensure Berry Street programs such as counselling, mentoring, early learning and schooling continue in the future.  

The team at Berry Street believe that all children deserve a good childhood.  As experts in this field, they know that these children, due to their negative and traumatic experiences have had little hope for the future.  The team at Berry Street want to assist them to build more positive memories and offer experiences such as the Berry Big Adventure- an annual trip within Australia, and Foster Care Camp.  On these trips, the children are able to see that life can be enjoyable and it's ok to smile and have fun, just like any other child.

For Berry Street's valuable work to continue, they need our support. 

It's obviously important for Berry Street to continue their services, but it’s even more important for them to increase their potential by improving and expanding on the quality of their services.  Only this way will Berry Street be able to help more children have a better childhood. 

A healthy happy childhood is the foundation to a good future.  Without safe and nurturing foundations in life, the vicious cycle of family violence, abuse and neglect will only continue.
